Rapid evaporative ionization mass spectrometry (REIMS), or the intelligent knife (iKnife), accurately identifies human tissue types in real-time during surgery. This novel diagnostic tool achieved 100% accuracy in distinguishing between cancerous and non-cancerous tissues intraoperatively.
