Background:

  • A patient underwent multiple surgeries for renal artery stenosis.
  • Post-operatively, the patient received an erythrocyte concentrate transfusion due to suspected bleeding.

Observation:

  • This case highlights the risk of transfusion-transmitted Yersinia enterocolitica infections.
  • Temporary deferral of blood donors with gastrointestinal symptoms is crucial to prevent transfusion-related sepsis.
