XRCC1 polymorphisms and differentiated thyroid carcinoma risk: a meta-analysis.

This study found no link between X-ray repair cross-complementing group 1 (XRCC1) gene variations and differentiated thyroid carcinoma risk overall. However, a reduced risk was noted in Caucasian populations for the XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism.

- A potential protective effect of the XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism against DTC may exist in Caucasian populations.
- Further research is warranted to confirm these findings and explore underlying mechanisms.
