  • The most frequent reasons for TKA revision were aseptic loosening (23.1%), infection (18.4%), polyethylene wear (18.1%), and instability (17.7%).
  • Pain/stiffness, osteolysis, and malposition/malalignment accounted for the remaining revisions.
  • A notable decrease in TKA revisions attributed to polyethylene wear, osteolysis, instability, and malalignment was observed compared to previous studies.
  • Conclusions:

    • Aseptic loosening and infection remain the predominant indications for TKA revision.
    • Observed reductions in revisions for wear, osteolysis, instability, and malalignment suggest progress in implant design and surgical techniques for total knee arthroplasty.
