[Individualized chemotherapy of adult acute nonlymphocytic leukemia]

The objective of the current study is to clarify the concept and to demonstrate the encouraging results of individualized chemotherapy for adult acute nonlymphocytic leukemia. Settlement of target point for remission induction and individual adjustment of the treatment schedules according to response to therapy is fundamental for the treatment strategy. Since 1982, 37 consecutive adults with newly diagnosed acute nonlymphocytic leukemia were treated with individualized chemotherapy using intensive DCMP sequential multi-step therapy. Eighty-four percent of patients entered CR. Actuarial remission duration at greater than 4 years was 63.4 +/- 10.2% (95% confidence interval).
