Deep brain stimulation induces striatal dopamine release in obsessive-compulsive disorder

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the nucleus accumbens (NAc) in obsessive-compulsive disorder patients increased dopamine release in the striatum. This dopamine release correlated with symptom improvement, suggesting DBS may correct a faulty dopaminergic system.
