Lung biopsies and patient care at university-affiliated hospitals: a 20-year experience

Lung biopsies have been performed since 1967 at the University of California at Los Angeles and its affiliated institutions. In the span of 20 years, the author performed 4285 cases and developed several procedures. This article discusses the importance of risk management and patient care and presents statistics on malignancies, complications, and contraindications.
