Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effect of anti-psoriatic therapy on HDL composition and function in patients with psoriasis.
  • To assess whether therapeutic interventions can restore HDL functionality.

Main Methods:

  • HDL was isolated from 15 psoriatic patients before and after treatment, and from 15 healthy controls.
  • Key HDL functions evaluated included cholesterol efflux capacity, paraoxonase activity, and Lp-PLA2 activity.
  • Changes in lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase and lipolytic activity were also measured.

Main Results:

  • These findings support the growing understanding of HDL's role in cardiovascular health beyond simple lipid levels.
