Abstract:
This article is the fifth of a series designed to help nurse anesthetists appreciate the clinical applications of equipment and monitoring systems. In this issue, the author describes the most recent American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard requirements for airway pressure monitoring and outlines the most important reasons for monitoring high, sustained and subatmospheric airway pressure.
