    Summary

    Varicocele, a condition affecting sperm, was studied to see if low oxygen levels (anoxia) cause poor sperm production. Researchers found no significant differences in blood gas levels between varicocele patients and normal males, concluding anoxia is not the cause.

    Background:

    • Varicocele is a common cause of male infertility.
    • Spermatogenic depression is a key factor in varicocele-associated infertility.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the role of altered blood gas content in the internal spermatic vein, peripheral vein, and femoral artery.
    • To determine if anoxia contributes to spermatogenic depression in varicocele patients.

    • Analysis of three patient groups: varicocele with abnormal semen (17), varicocele with normal sperm (7), and normal males (17).
