  • Choroidal imaging at nine macular points using Spectralis enhanced depth imaging (EDI-OCT).
  • Axial length measurement via IOLMaster; recording of height, weight, and refraction; assessment of interobserver agreement using the Bland-Altman Method.

    • Mean subfoveal CT was 341.96 ± 74.7 µm in 348 eyes from 174 children.
    • CT increased with age (r = 0.24, P = 0.017), height, and weight, but not gender (P > 0.05).
    • CT showed an inverse correlation with axial length (r = 0.24, P = 0.001) and significant variation across macular regions (nasal thinner than temporal).

    Conclusions:

    • In pediatric populations, choroidal thickness (CT) demonstrates a positive correlation with age and a negative correlation with axial length.
    • Significant inter-individual variability in CT exists among children of similar ages, underscoring the need for age- and length-specific normative data.
