Influence of 4% icodextrin solution on peritoneal tissue response and adhesion formation

4% icodextrin significantly reduced postoperative peritoneal adhesion formation compared to sodium chloride in rats. This solution also decreased inflammatory and mesenchymal infiltrates, improving mesothelial cell ratios and ameliorating local tissue response.
