Abstract:
This third article in the series 'Common problems: a safe diagnostic strategy' focuses on shoulder pain that is commonly caused by disorders of the neck and of the rotator cuff, especially supraspinatus tendinitis. It is important not to overlook the very serious and often masked causes such as severe infection, malignancy, including Pancoast's syndrome, and myocardial ischaemia.
