Background:

  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by specific brain lesions.
  • Basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF) is a mitogen with potential roles in the central nervous system.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the presence, distribution, quantity, molecular forms, and synthesis sites of basic FGF in normal and Alzheimer's brains.
  • To explore the association of basic FGF with Alzheimer's disease pathology.
