Background:

Delusional Procreation Syndrome (DPS) is characterized by delusions within the human reproductive cycle.
Existing research on DPS primarily relies on clinical samples.
Understanding DPS in diverse populations is crucial for syndrome validation.

Observation:

This study presents a case series of Delusional Procreation Syndrome (DPS) in a rural community sample.
Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia exhibited delusions related to DPS.
Observed delusions included believing they had a spouse, were delivering a child, or were already a parent.

Findings:

The case series provides evidence of DPS manifestations in a non-clinical, rural schizophrenia population.
Specific delusions reported align with the characteristics of Delusional Procreation Syndrome.
This community-based data contributes to the understanding of DPS prevalence and presentation.

Implications:

Findings suggest DPS may occur in community samples of schizophrenia patients, not just clinical settings.
This evidence supports the validity of Delusional Procreation Syndrome as a distinct clinical syndrome.
Further research is warranted to explore the epidemiology and neurobiological underpinnings of DPS.
