Spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection treated under intravascular ultrasound guidance

While endovascular treatment for superior mesenteric artery dissection has recently been adopted its effectiveness remains debatable. We performed endovascular stent placement in the acute phase of superior mesenteric artery dissection without any preceding medical therapy and obtained a successful outcome. Intravascular ultrasound guidance was useful for confirming the location of the guidewire in the true lumen.
