Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is linked to erectile dysfunction (ED) in men, independent of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Higher TNF-α levels may predict ED, suggesting a role for inflammation in this condition.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the inflammatory, metabolic, and hormonal profiles of men with and without ED and/or OSAS.
  • To determine the independent and interactive effects of ED and OSAS on these profiles.
  • To identify predictors of ED, including inflammatory markers.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 363 men underwent sexual questionnaires, physical examinations, and blood tests.
  • OSAS was assessed using polysomnography and clinical evaluation.
