Abstract:
In French law, protection of vulnerable people is guided by principles of dignity, freedom and solidarity. Moreover, old age is not, in itself, a criterion for putting in place specific protective measures. While it is difficult to find a balance between protection, assistance and the respect of the individual freedom of the elderly person, it should never be forgotten that a person's autonomy must be preserved as best as possible.
