Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in nitric oxide synthase (NOS) genes were not linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or lung function. However, a specific NOS3 variant (rs1800779) reduced gene and protein expression, impacting various disease states.
