Predicting hemorrhage and obstruction in the elderly population using thromboelastographic indices

This study found that standard thromboelastography (TEG) values are poor predictors of vascular obstruction and modestly predict hemorrhage in elderly patients. Optimized TEG cutoffs significantly improved prediction accuracy for both conditions.

- Existing TEG cut-off values are insufficient for predicting hemorrhage and vascular obstruction in the elderly.
- ROC curve analysis-derived optimal cut-off values enhance the prediction of these critical vascular events in this population.
