This case report details the successful laparoscopic removal of an ingested iron nail from a jejunum in a 16-year-old male. The minimally invasive surgery ensured a swift recovery with no complications.

Background:

Foreign body ingestion in adolescents can pose significant surgical challenges.
Timely diagnosis and intervention are crucial for favorable outcomes.

Observation:

A 16-year-old male presented after intentional ingestion of a 6-cm iron nail.
Computed tomography revealed the foreign body lodged in the jejunum.
The patient was asymptomatic at presentation.

Findings:

Emergency surgery was performed using a single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) approach.
The iron nail was successfully removed via enterostomy with extracorporeal suturing.
The procedure lasted 1 hour with no blood loss.

Implications:

Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is a viable and effective technique for jejunal foreign body removal.
This approach offers potential benefits such as reduced scarring and faster recovery.
This represents the first reported case of SILS for jejunal foreign body extraction.
