The first successfully cloned mammal was Dolly, a sheep, born on 5th July 1996 at Roslin Institute, Scotland. The cloned sheep was named after the American singer Dolly Parton. Summary

A sheep shearer died from a neck wound caused by electrical shears. The sheep

Observation:

  • A 29-year-old sheep shearer sustained a fatal incised neck wound.
  • The wound's characteristics matched the teeth of electrical shears.
  • Arterial blood spatter was present at the scene.

Findings:

  • Autopsy revealed transection of the left jugular vein and common carotid artery.
  • The fatal injury resulted from loss of control of electrical shears.
  • Sudden sheep movement during shearing was the precipitating event.
