Context:

Medical-occupational rehabilitation is crucial for patient reintegration into the workforce.
The MEmbeR study addresses the need for evidence on rehabilitation outcomes in Germany.
Previous research may not fully capture the long-term effects of integrated rehabilitation programs.

To evaluate the effectiveness of medical-occupational rehabilitation in Germany.

Summary:

The MEmbeR prospective, multi-center study followed 196 patients (neurological, psychiatric, orthopaedic, internal medicine) for two years.
A significant majority (78.1%) returned to work, with unemployment decreasing from 69.9% to 5.6% two years after discharge.
Younger age and lower disability (Degree of Disablement) were associated with successful return to employment.
