Summary

Diabetic nephropathy patients with the haptoglobin 2-2 genotype may benefit from vitamin E treatment, as this genotype is linked to increased oxidative stress and cardiovascular risk. Studies in patients and mice suggest vitamin E improves outcomes in haptoglobin 2-2 individuals.
