Abstract:
Primaquine (I), a 6-methoxy-8-aminoqumoline derivative used for the treatment of malaria has previously been shown to be metabolized to 8-(3-carboxy-l-methyl-propylamino)-6-methoxyquinoline by both micro-organisms and laboratory rats. Reported herein is the synthesis of this novel metabolite.
