Targeted ablation of complex fractionated electrograms (CFEs) in addition to linear left atrial (LA) ablation significantly improved outcomes for patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (PsAF). This approach further reduced CFE burden and terminated atrial fibrillation in 20% of patients.

Background:

Conclusions:
- Localized CFE sites identified after linear ablation represent optimal targets for selective substrate modification in PsAF.
- This combined ablation strategy enhances the effectiveness of atrial fibrillation treatment by addressing residual electrophysiological abnormalities.
