  • A random sample of 1,000 American College of Physicians members participated.
  • Survey questions covered attitudes on self-regulation, feedback, competence demonstration, and transparency in assessment.

  • A high percentage of physicians (80-94%) deem feedback on knowledge and care quality important.
  • A significant gap exists, with only 24-27% reporting frequent receipt of useful feedback.
  • While 75% find knowledge assessment important, only 52% participated in such programs recently; 58% support periodic secure examinations.

  • A notable discrepancy exists between physicians' desire for competence feedback and the current availability of effective programs.
