    Background:

    • Community-based projects can identify health and developmental concerns in children from birth.
    • Early childhood presents various challenges including health, cognitive, motor, social, and attentional issues.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess the effectiveness of early identification and intervention strategies for developmental concerns in a community setting.
    • To identify risk factors for later reading and behavioral problems.

    Main Methods:

    • Longitudinal study following 169 children from birth to second grade.
    • Periodic health and functional assessments to create developmental profiles.
    • Analysis of risk factors, including early attentional problems and maternal education, on second-grade outcomes.
