Summary

A common carp developed a retroperitoneal mass, initially suspected as a seroma but later diagnosed as hemangiosarcoma. This aggressive neoplasm caused vertebral lysis and spinal canal invasion, leading to the fish's euthanasia.

  • Antibiotic treatment was ineffective, and imaging showed progressive mass enlargement with vertebral invasion.

Findings:

  • Post-mortem MRI and CT confirmed a retroperitoneal mass infiltrating the spinal canal, causing significant muscle atrophy and elevated creatine kinase.
  • Histopathology revealed a locally aggressive hemangiosarcoma with diverse growth patterns.
