Background:

  • Lichen planus pigmentosus inversus (LPPI) is a rare variant of lichen planus.
  • It is characterized by hyperchromic macules in intertriginous areas.

Observation:

  • A 25-year-old male presented with asymptomatic brown spots in cervical, axillary, inguinal, and popliteal regions.
  • Lesions appeared over nine months and were asymptomatic.

Findings:

  • Pathological examination revealed hydropic degeneration of the basal layer, pigmentary incontinence, and a lymphocytic infiltrate.
  • Histology was consistent with the unique lichenoid features of LPPI.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the typical clinical presentation and histological findings of Lichen planus pigmentosus inversus.
  • Understanding these features aids in the diagnosis of this rare dermatosis.
