Insights
Oral propranolol effectively treats infantile hemangioma, the most common childhood vascular tumor. This study shows good results in six pediatric cases, supporting propranolol as a viable treatment option.
Area of Science:
- Pediatric Dermatology
- Vascular Biology
- Pharmacology
Background:
- Infantile hemangioma is the most common vascular tumor in infants and young children.
- Treatment options for infantile hemangioma have evolved, with recent interest in pharmacological interventions.
Observation:
- A single dermatological center observed six pediatric patients diagnosed with infantile hemangioma.
- These patients were treated with oral propranolol as a therapeutic intervention.
Findings:
- All six cases of infantile hemangioma demonstrated a positive response to oral propranolol treatment.
- The observed outcomes indicated good therapeutic results with propranolol administration.
Implications:
- Oral propranolol shows promise as an effective treatment for infantile hemangioma.
- Further research may validate propranolol's role in managing this common pediatric vascular tumor.
Abstract:
Infantile hemangioma is the most common vascular tumor in early childhood. Propranolol has been successfully used recently in a limited number of children with Infantile hemangioma. We present 6 cases of Infantile hemangioma, at a single dermatological center, which responded to oral propranolol with good results.
