Understanding amputation demographics is crucial for effective public health interventions.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the demographic characteristics of amputees in an Iranian city.
To identify the primary causes and patterns of limb loss in the studied population.

The average annual amputation rate was 21.6 cases.

The mean age of amputees was 39.26 years, with a notable male predominance (79.62%).

Trauma was the most frequent cause of amputation, particularly among younger males, with toe amputations being most common.

Conclusions:

Unlike developed countries where other causes dominate, trauma is the primary driver of amputations in this Iranian cohort.
These findings are vital for developing targeted prevention programs to reduce limb loss incidence.
