Hybridocytochemistry with non-radioactive probes as a tool for biomedical research and cytodiagnostics

The advent of DNA and RNA labelling techniques which allow non-autoradiographic detection of specific nucleic acid sequences has opened new possibilities for rapid diagnosis at the nucleic acid level. There are already practical applications. However, in order to fully compete with radioactive procedures an increase in sensitivity is still desired.
