We created a maize expression compendium using integrated data and consistent gene mapping. This resource, accessible via the MAGIC web portal, aids in exploring Zea mays gene expression across experiments.
Area of Science:
- Plant Biology
- Genomics
- Bioinformatics
Background:
- Publicly available Zea mays expression data is fragmented across various platforms.
- A unified resource is needed for comprehensive analysis of maize gene expression.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop an integrated maize expression compendium.
- To provide a user-friendly web portal (MAGIC) for data exploration and analysis.
- To enable cross-experiment analysis with consistent gene annotation.
Main Methods:
- Integrated publicly available Zea mays expression data.
- Developed a consistent probe-to-gene mapping using the Z. mays 5b.60 sequence release.
- Created the MAGIC web portal with analysis tools.
Main Results:
- A comprehensive maize expression compendium was constructed.
- The MAGIC portal allows browsing and analysis of integrated expression data.
- Consistent gene annotation across platforms facilitates comparative studies.
Conclusions:
- The MAGIC compendium provides a valuable resource for Zea mays research.
- Facilitates deeper understanding of maize gene expression patterns.
- Enables robust analysis by integrating diverse datasets.
