Summary

A rare case of intrathoracic ectopic liver was discovered in a Japanese Black cow. This congenital abnormality, presenting as a lung mass, is the first reported instance in bovine medicine.

  • Histological examination revealed the mass composed of hepatocytes and portal structures, including interlobular bile ducts, arteries, and veins, along with central veins.
  • Diagnosis of intrathoracic ectopic liver was established based on these unique histological features.
