    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop a specific antiserum against pig intestinal brush border proteins.
    • To identify and characterize brush border peptidases using immunoelectrophoresis.

    • Generation of a rabbit antiserum against Triton X-100 solubilized pig intestinal brush border proteins.
    • Immunoelectrophoretic analysis of solubilized brush border proteins.
    • Large-scale solubilization and purification of peptidases using various chromatography techniques (concanavalin A-Sepharose, hydroxyapatite, Ultrogel AcA 34, DEAE-cellulose, immunosorbent).

    • Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase and microsomal aminopeptidase were isolated separately.
    • Glycylprolyl dipeptidyl peptidase and aspartate aminopeptidase were isolated together.

    • The developed antiserum is a valuable tool for identifying pig intestinal brush border enzymes.
    • Intestinal brush border peptidases share similarities with particulate peptidases from other organs based on immunoelectrophoretic, inhibitor, and chromatographic studies.
    • This research provides a foundation for further investigation into the structure and function of these enzymes.
