Abstract:
As a preliminary study before starting a combination (irradiation-chemotherapy) protocol, 18 patients with non-small cell carcinoma of the lung (NSCCL) were treated with a short course of accelerated fractionation radiotherapy alone. Early results were equivalent to results reported in the literature after radiotherapy of higher doses, given in longer periods. Distressing symptoms were effectively controlled whereas side effects were not excessive.
