Post appendectomy acalculus bilateral ureteric obstruction: a rare entity in children

Acute appendicitis can rarely cause bilateral ureteric obstruction in children due to bladder inflammation. Prompt treatment with ureteric stenting led to full recovery in both pediatric cases.

- The obstruction was attributed to bladder wall edema, an inflammatory reaction to acute appendicitis.
- No gallstones (calculus) were involved in the ureteric obstruction.

- This case series highlights a rare but serious complication of acute appendicitis in children.
- Early diagnosis and intervention, such as ureteric stenting, are crucial for favorable outcomes.
- Understanding this inflammatory pathway may inform management of similar rare presentations.
