Cold ischemia or topical-ECMO for lung preservation: a randomized experimental study

Topical extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) did not show superiority over cold ischemia for lung preservation up to eight hours. This study found no significant functional or histological differences between the two methods in an ex vivo model.
