Summary

Renal oncocytoma, a rare benign kidney tumor, is often found incidentally. This case highlights a unique unilateral renal oncocytosis with multiple nodules in one kidney and a healthy contralateral kidney.

Background:

Renal oncocytomas are rare, benign kidney tumors, accounting for approximately 5% of all renal neoplasms.
These tumors are typically discovered incidentally in asymptomatic patients.
Renal oncocytosis, characterized by multiple bilateral tumors, is an uncommon presentation.

Observation:

This report details a rare case of unilateral renal oncocytosis.
The patient presented with multiple renal oncocytoma nodules affecting the right renal parenchyma.
The left kidney was unaffected and appeared normal.

Findings:

The study describes a unique instance of right-sided renal oncocytosis.
Histopathological examination confirmed the presence of oncocytoma in the right renal nodules.
The contralateral kidney demonstrated no evidence of oncocytoma or oncocytosis.

Implications:

This case expands the understanding of the clinical spectrum of renal oncocytoma.
It underscores the possibility of unilateral multifocal oncocytoma, a rare variant of renal oncocytosis.
Further research may elucidate the specific mechanisms and clinical significance of unilateral renal oncocytosis.
