Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between urinary bladder shape and bladder emptying/UFR in men.
  • To determine if bladder shape is associated with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

  • Retrospective analysis of medical records for 76 men.
  • Classification of bladder shapes into cone and spherical based on MRI scans.
  • Comparison of International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), maximum flow rate (Qmax), average flow rate (Qave), and waist circumference between groups.

  • Significant differences observed in IPSS, Qmax, Qave, and waist circumference between cone and spherical bladder shape groups.
  • Positive correlation found between peak urinary flow rate (UFM) and calculated flow rate (CP).

Conclusions:

  • Altered urinary bladder shape may contribute to LUTS in men.
  • Modifiable factors such as increased waist circumference and urachal loosening could influence bladder shape and LUTS.
  • Addressing these modifiable factors may offer a therapeutic approach for improving LUTS.
