High-intensity interval training (HIT) significantly boosts cardiac autonomic function and R-R interval variability more than aerobic endurance training (AET) over two weeks. HIT enhances vagal activity, improving heart rate regulation.

- The acute autonomic responses to individual HIT sessions did not show adaptation within the short 2-week training period.
