Abstract:
A strong relationship exists between autoimmunity and B-cell oncogenesis. Recent evidence indicates that CD5-positive B-cells are involved in both the production of (germ-line encoded) autoantibodies and the clonal B-cell expansions. Thus, this special B-cell subset represents a strong link between autoimmune state and B-cell malignancies. Immunotherapy of both autoimmune diseases and B-cell malignancies. Immunotherapy of both autoimmune diseases and B-cell cancers should consider the relationship between both processes.
