[Palliative surgery in colorectal cancer]

Only about 20% of all operative measures in colorectal cancer patients are performed in palliative intention. Surgical strategies, however, need to be selected in correspondence to the symptomatological end of the operation. If possible, a simple but complete removal of the tumor should be attempted.
