Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of distraction osteogenesis in managing mandibular deformities.
  • To assess the outcomes of this technique in a clinical setting.

Main Methods:

  • Twelve patients with mandibular deformities were included in the study.
  • Osteotomies were performed proximal to the antegonial notch.
  • A latency period of 5–7 days was followed by a consolidation period of 6–8 weeks.

Main Results:

  • Significant mandibular lengthening was achieved in all treated patients.
  • The technique demonstrated successful correction of deformities.

Conclusions:

  • Distraction osteogenesis facilitates simultaneous hard and soft tissue growth.
