Summary

Occupational exposure to color developing agents, like CD-2 and CD-3, can cause allergic contact dermatitis and lichenoid lesions. Most patients developed contact allergy, and many had to change jobs due to the skin disease.

Background:

  • p-phenylenediamine derivatives, such as CD-2 and CD-3, are known occupational sensitizers.
  • Exposure can lead to lichenoid lesions and allergic contact dermatitis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the clinical presentation, course, and patch test results of 24 patients with occupational skin disease from color developing agents.
  • To investigate the histopathological findings of induced lesions and patch test reactions.

Main Methods:

  • Clinical assessment of 24 patients with suspected occupational skin disease.
  • Patch testing with color developing agents.
  • Histopathological examination of skin biopsies from lesions and/or patch test sites in 14 patients.
