    Summary

Spectral-domain and time-domain anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) show high repeatability for anterior chamber measurements. While generally in good agreement, differences were noted for anterior chamber depth and scleral spur angles.

    Area of Science:

    • Ophthalmology
    • Medical Imaging
    • Biomedical Engineering

    Background:

    • Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is crucial for evaluating anterior chamber parameters.
    • Comparing different AS-OCT technologies, such as spectral-domain (SD-AS-OCT) and time-domain (TD-AS-OCT), is essential for clinical application.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare anterior chamber and anterior chamber angle measurements between spectral-domain AS-OCT (Casia) and time-domain AS-OCT (Visante).

    Main Methods:

    • Healthy participants underwent imaging with both Casia and Visante AS-OCT devices.
    • Key parameters measured included central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), angle opening distance (AOD), trabecular iris space area (TISA), and scleral spur angle.
    • Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs), Pearson correlation, and Bland-Altman plots were used for analysis.

    Main Results:

    • Both AS-OCT devices demonstrated excellent repeatability for most parameters (ICC = 0.90–0.98).
    • Measurements for CCT, AOD, and TISA 750 showed excellent agreement.
    • Significant differences were observed in ACD (Casia larger) and scleral spur angle (Casia lower).

    Conclusions:

    • Both Casia and Visante AS-OCT systems exhibit high repeatability for anterior segment measurements.
    • The devices show good agreement for most parameters, with notable exceptions in ACD and scleral spur angle measurements.
