    Summary

    Wilson's disease, a genetic copper metabolism disorder, can cause infertility. Successful treatment and liver transplantation can restore fertility, enabling healthy pregnancies and births.

    Background:

    • Wilson's disease is an autosomal recessive disorder affecting copper metabolism.
    • It can lead to liver cirrhosis, menstrual irregularities, and infertility.
    • Elevated copper levels during pregnancy pose risks to both mother and fetus.

    Observation:

    • A patient with Wilson's disease experienced three pregnancies.
    • The first pregnancy resulted in a healthy baby.
    • The second pregnancy was terminated due to disease progression and liver cirrhosis; the patient subsequently received a liver transplant.
    • Two years post-transplantation, the patient conceived again and delivered a healthy child.

    Findings:

    • Successful management of Wilson's disease, including liver transplantation, can restore reproductive function.
