Brief communication: a simple model for teaching double-contrast examinations of the gastrointestinal tract

Abstract:
Good double-contrast studies of the stomach and colon demand a meticulous examination technique. The radiology resident learning this technique often has difficulty understanding the effect of patient positioning on the barium and air. A simple three-dimensional model is described here which helps the resident understand the rationale for the sequence of manoeuvres required to move the barium and air through the gut.
