Population differences concerning TNF-α gene polymorphisms in gastric carcinogenesis based on meta-analysis

- Overall, TNF-α-308 G/G (OR=0.837, P=0.029) and A/A (OR=1.430, P=0.018) genotypes were associated with statistically significant altered gastric cancer risk.
- Subgroup analysis revealed a significant association for the TNF-α-308 G/G genotype specifically in Asian populations (OR=0.774, P=0.036).
Conclusions:
- The meta-analysis indicates an overall statistically significant increased risk of gastric cancer associated with TNF-α-308 G/G and A/A genotypes.
- Significant associations for the TNF-α-308 G/G genotype were observed in Asians, but not in Caucasians or Hispanics.
- These findings highlight the role of specific TNF-α gene polymorphisms in gastric carcinogenesis, with variations across different ethnic groups.
